On May 17, 2010 and after 33 ½ years of service to the Noblesville Fire Department, Assistant Chief Rick Taylor retired.Brother Taylor started on the NFD on November 15, 1976 when Noblesville fire fighters earned an annual starting salary of just $8,600.In 1976, Taylor was one of seventeen fire fighters on the job.In 2010, NFD has 128 fire fighters serving on the job.
During his career, Chief Taylor rose through the ranks promoted to Driver, Captain, and Battalion Chief on the B-crew before moving to the office in 2003 to serve as Assistant Chief of Operations.Taylor served the men and women of the department as well as the citizens of Noblesville with dedication and distinction.
Rick served Noblesville along side two uncles, Jeff and Rodney Reveal.Chief Jeff Reveal started on the department in 1964 and retired in 1993.Captain Rodney Reveal served from 1973 until 2003.Since 1964, a member of the Reveal family has served the department and the community totaling 92 ½ years of service from the family.
Brother Taylor left big shoes to fill.At his retirement party in May, he thanked numerous people in attendance and those he worked with including all of the NFD members.He ended by thanking his wife Sandy and daughters, Amanda and Brooke, and told them that it was finally time to go fishing.
