  • Peer Support Unit & Employee Assistance Program

Our health and wellness is an important part of doing our job well and that includes our psychological wellness. This work we do takes a toll and that is why we have worked to establish a Peer Support program. We are working to enhance this program to focus on making sure our members are aware of services available from EAP, chaplaincy, and other professional
services. We have members throughout the Local that are trained in Peer Support.  Through these efforts we have been able
to partner with our departments, chaplaincy programs, and mental health professionals to ensure our members have the resources they need to stay fit.

Peer Support’s clinical director, Dr. Bob Smith, PhD and retired fire captain, provides our program with education, guidance, and access to the area’s top professionals. Peer Support meets quarterly for educational updates and training. If you would like to participate as a member of Peer Support, please contact the Local 4416 office or your DVP.  We also encourage any member to contact a member of Peer Support confidentially to learn more about assistance options or call your EAP direct.
